Chamber of Commerce holds Halloween Parade this Sunday
The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce will stage its 30th annual Halloween Parade on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. Participants will gather at noon in the Park Street parking lot to receive goodie bags (while supplies last). The event will be held rain or shine.
This year the Chamber is putting a bit of "Boo" back into the parade by setting up booths with fun activities for trick-or-treaters. Don't forget to enter into the Best-Dressed Family contest. The winning family will received a prize donated by Venture Photography. Blue Star Soccer, Prudential Realty, Pura Vida, St. Mark's Nursery School and Suzy Said will be on hand with treats and activities. Village Critter Outfitter will be taking photos of pooches in Halloween costumes.
Dr. Anna Simonis, of New Canaan Pediatric Dentistry, has put a challenge before trick-or-treaters. Simonis is asking kids to bring her their candy. She will give a dollar to the trick-or-treaters and donate $1 per pound of candy to St. Jude's Hospital.
Simonis will be collecting candy throughout November and will also be at the parade with special treats.
James Daniel Music, sponsored by Toddlertime Nursery School, will entertain the crowd. New Canaan resident and CEO of Pez Candy Joe Vittoria is donating Pez Candy dispensers for the goodie bags.
Marchers should gather in the Park Street parking lot starting at noon. The parade goes to the corner of Park and Elm streets, proceeds down Elm to Main Street, and loops back up Elm Street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic.
This year's grand marshals are firefighters from New Canaan Fire Company No. 1. Old Faithful Antique Fire Engine will lead the parade and return to the top of Elm.
