Three cars were broken into at Waveny Park Jan. 2.

After receiving a report of a break-in at 9:45 a.m., officers arrived on scene and found three cars with shattered passenger-side windows, police said.

A wallet was taken from one of the cars but nothing from the other two, according to the report.

One car was parked near the Carriage Barn and the other two were near the water tower, according to the report. All cars belong to New Canaan residents.

Police said they believe the break-ins happened within an hour prior to their arrival at the park because there were footprints in the snow near the cars.

The park does not have any surveillance cameras, police said.

The case is under investigation.
