A bag with $2,200 in cash was stolen from a safe at a New Canaan candy store Saturday, according to police.
The 67-year-old complainant, who owns Mackenzie's, 7 South Ave., called police after he noticed that the bag was missing from the office, which is located in the back of the store, police said.
According to the report, an employee who was working at the office went to the front of the store to help at the counter at about 4 p.m. and returned at about 6 p.m. During that time, police said, neither the safe nor the office was locked.
The case is under investigation.
