Arthur Joseph "Mac" MacBride III died Saturday, April 9, surrounded by his wife, daughters, sisters and extended family. He was 62.

Mr. MacBride was born in Bluefield, W.Va., and was the son of the late Arthur Joseph and Jane Haberkorn MacBride.

Mr. MacBride was a 1968 graduate of the Canterbury School in New Milford, a 1972 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and a 1977 graduate of Fordham University School of Business. While at Franklin & Marshall, he served as president of Chi Phi Fraternity.

Mr. MacBride retired from Prudential Financial in 2009 as a managing director and senior investment officer and recently founded MacBride Partners, an asset management consulting firm. Prior to joining Prudential, he served as the head of Institutional Portfolio Management for the Fixed Income Division of Fidelity Investments from 1999 to 2004.

Mr. MacBride became a member of the board of trustees of Franklin & Marshall College in 2008 and served on the investment and finance committees. He was an active and dedicated supporter of the college prior to joining the board of trustees, generously donating his time and energy to help the college achieve its mission, as well as recently setting up two scholarships in the names of his wife Barbara's father, Robert Frey and her step-father, Roland Young.

He enjoyed playing golf and skiing, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his three daughters, Melissa, Heather and Kimberly; and son-in-law Matthew Kelley; and his siblings, Heather Dickey, Deborah Devlin, Sharon MacBride and William MacBride.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church in New Canaan.
