A new logo for the New Canaan Chamber

The New Canaan Chamber has a new logo.
"The new symbol of two C's represents the overlap between business and the community," said Tucker Murphy, executive director of the chamber, about the new logo.
The new logo comes hand in hand with their new tag line and mission statement, "Connecting the Community with Commerce."
Ever since Murphy took charge in April of 2009, she has been working towards creating a new identity for the chamber.
"What we really are all about is to having a presence in every facet of day to day life in New Canaan," said Murphy.
The new look and style took months of work and cooperation through a committee established by the chamber. The committee included Keith Simpson of Keith Simpson Landscape Architects, Terry Scarborough of Kitchen's by Deane, Hilary Hotchkiss of Moffly Media, Dan Mulhern of M Milestones, BJ Flagg of NuRenu Marketing, Bonnie Tyler and Sheila Torgan of Cybersidewalks and ShopNewCanaan, and Mary Anne Hersam of Hersam Acorn Newspapers.
CyberSidewalks.com, and the New Canaan-based marketing firm owned and operated by New Canaan native, Sheila Torgan, and Bonnie Tyler offered its services to update the Chamber's look.
"Initially, our conversations centered on all that the Chamber does and who, within our community benefits," Tyler said. "Memorializing all that in one logo would have been impossible, so we had to boil it down to its simplest form and hence the connecting community with commerce idea was born."
Torgan's roots in New Canaan helped shape the look and feel.
"New Canaan is a sophisticated town in many respects, but holds tight to the simplicity that living in a small New England town affords us," Torgan said. "With these thoughts in mind, we carefully chose the fonts and images with classic lines, but quickly realized we needed a node to the modern. Hopefully we have captured the spirit of The Chamber, past, present and future."
This is another new milestone for the chamber. In the next few weeks, a revamped membership directory will be distributed and will be available at the chamber offices, 91 Elm St., as well as at selected businesses in town.
