MILFORD — Two teens were busted going through unlocked vehicles in the city recently, police announced Wednesday.

William Higgins, 18, of West Haven, was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

A juvenile was also arrested, police said. His charges were not provided, but were likely similar based of the rest of the police report.

Police said officers noticed suspicious activity around 5 a.m. on July 6 in the driveway of a house on Tulip Tree Court near East Rutland Road.

“Investigation led to the arrest of Higgins along with a male juvenile who are accused of going through unlocked vehicles in the area and taking items, including loose change,” police said.

Higgins was released on a promise to appear. He is expected in court on July 31.

Police throughout Fairfield County have issued several reminders to residents to lock their cars, keep their keys and key fobs out of their cars and to ensure valuables are not left in plain view.
