1 hospitalized after Bridgeport fire
BRIDGEPORT — One person was sent to the hospital after a fire in the city Thursday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a duplex on Hanover Street for a report of a structure fire, officials said.
“First unit on scene reported smoke coming from the second floor,” Deputy Chief Lance Edwards said. “The fire was quickly knocked down and kept to the room of origin.”
One civilian was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Firefighters searched the structure and found that everyone had evacuated.
There was no damage to the other unit in the duplex, Edwards said, and no injuries to anyone living there or to any firefighters that worked to pt out the blaze.
The fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
