Walter Stewart's Market is holding a special "T-Bill" Donation Days drive to support AMERICARES and their relief efforts of earthquake and tsunami survivors in Japan. Customers may donate their T-Bill balances at any checkout through Wednesday, March 30.
Walter Stewart's will match all designated "T-Bills" with a monetary donation to AmeriCares, the Stamford-based global health and disaster relief organization that "has a disaster response team on the ground in Japan working directly with hospitals and local officials to meet the health needs of earthquake and tsunami survivors."

"We are preparing to deliver medicines, personal hygiene products and other humanitarian aid to hospitals and shelters housing the hundreds of thousands of people left homeless by the disaster. AmeriCares also plans to assist with long-term efforts to rebuild Japan's health care system, much like we did in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and Southeast Asia after the 2004 tsunami," Jennifer Martins, senior associate of special events for AmeriCares, said.
Walter Stewart's Market donated $8542.00 to AmeriCares, proceeds from their Haiti Relief T-Bill drive in 2010.
Shoppers who would like to participate in the donation days program may obtain a courtesy card from Walter Stewart's customer service staff or may apply online at www.StewartsMarket.com.
Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has distributed more than $10 billion in humanitarian aid to 147 countries. For more information, visit www.AmeriCares.org.
