WILTON — Tennis anyone?
While most Fairfield County residents have closed their swimming pools for the season this autumn’s unseasonably warm temperatures have allowed them to continue other summer outdoor pursuits.
Just step into the backyard of the stately white colonial house with black shutters at 167 Sturges Ridge Road for a game of tennis. Inside, there is another major selling point. The listing agent says kitchens often sell a house “and this one will do just that.” The current owners have bumped out the back to expand the floor plan and in doing so have created one of the most beautiful gourmet kitchens currently on the market, she said. No expense was spared with the custom cabinetry, Calacatta Capraia counter tops and top-of-the-line appliances, she said.
The 6,633-square-foot Energy Star-rated house was originally built in 1999 and it was completely renovated in 2016. That’s when the kitchen was expanded and modernized. The amount of work the owners did takes up almost three type-written pages. Its many updates and upgrades include sanding and re-staining floors in the living room, and sanding and repainting the floors in the dining room and library/office, which are black. They also installed custom solid wood floor-to-ceiling paneling on the walls of the office or library. Custom wainscoting was added to the lower walls of the master bedroom suite.
Two bedrooms got updated roller shades. The exterior and interior of the house got a fresh coat of paint. Electrical and other work was done for an outdoor fireplace. NEST thermostats were installed throughout the house except in the basement. Full-house wiring was installed for landline Internet service including in every bedroom and the bonus room. As the listing agent said, there are too many updates to list so it’s best to visit the house “and see for yourself.”
The house sits on a two-acre level property in an area of Wilton that puts it close to Ambler Farm and Rolling Hills Country Club. Stone pillars topped with lanterns mark the entrance and there is an ample driveway providing plenty of parking for family holiday visitors and large gatherings of friends. This house has an attached four-car garage. It also has two stone patios, including one new patio.
