This past winter, the New Canaan boys varsity A squash team won the Fairwest Division I championship for the second consecutive year. Both the Rams' varsity A and varsity B teams produced undefeated seasons in the Fairwest public school squash league, which is comprised of teams from Fairfield and Westchester counties. Other league members include Darien, Greenwich, Fairfield, Bronxville and Rye High Schools. The New Canaan varsity B team also claimed a Division II championship.

"I am so proud of our players," said New Canaan squash founder Liz Schmidt. "With great coaching coming out of Chelsea Piers and an amazing group of dedicated and talented squash players, we had some of the best squash matches in our eight-year history this season ... We have a great group of kids who really love to play and a wonderful parent base that is very supportive."

During its regular season, the Rams also compete against other schools in the local area. However, their grandest accomplishment came out of state, when the team traveled in early February for national competition in Philadelphia, where they placed third in Division III. Appreciation for how far the program has come in two years was felt by both players and coaches.

"They have come a long way," said New Canaan coach Supreet Singh.

"As a departing senior, I can honestly say that the team has grown immensely, not only in numbers, but in skill and maturity," said senior co-captain Henry Greer. "I'm so proud of my teammates for all of their hard work."

New Canaan's varsity A players this season included Grayson Bubrosky, Killian Bubrosky, Hal Holappa, Christian Megherby, Kyle Finnican, Sam Havens, Will Gruseke and Andreas Kjekstad (team manager).

Varsity B players were Greer, Teddy Holappa, Erik Burns, JP Sloan, Alex Smith, Dylan Brennan, Sean Berry and Charlie Kallassy.
