One week after Darien softball claimed the FCIAC Eastern division lead from unbeaten St. Joseph, New Canaan (10-6, 10-4 FCIAC) threw its name in the coversation with a 2-1 upset of the Blue Wave Wednesday. Ram senior Aliu Reilly pitched a gem, allowing three hits and striking out five. Jamie Sclim knocked in the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth off Darien ace Erika Osherow, who took only her second loss of the season. Lexi Lopiano plated the lone Wave run of the game in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1, following a New Canaan score in the opening frame. Darien (14-2, 11-2) will now take on Ridgefield and Stamford at home, as well as Norwalk and Westhill on the road, to wrap up its regular sesaon.
The Rams, having won seven of their last eight, look to extend their hot streak Saturday at home in a battle with St. Joseph at 2 p.m.
