It was a week to remember at the USTA Girls' 16s National Hard Court Championship for seventeenth-seeded Lexi Milunovich, as the 16-year-old from New Canaan finished fourth and upset No. 1 seed Ryan Peus of California 6-0, 6-4 in the round of 16. The tournament spanned from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8 and took place in San Diego, Calif., featuring the top 200 junior girls tennis players in the country. Following her upset effort over Peus, Milunovich then continued her winning streak by defeating Riley McQuaid of California in a back-and-forth quarterfinal match, 5-7, 6-0, 7-6 (1) to move on to the semifinals. Next, Milunovich challenged the eventual tournament champion, Arizona's Kylie McKenzie, in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 2-6. She was the only opponent to take a set from McKenzie during the entire event. She then fell in a third-place match.

Presently, Milunovich is ranked 23rd in the nation in singles and 20th nationally in doubles. Within New England, she is first in the 16s divisions and third in the 18s. Milunovich plans to play Division I tennis in college. She is a junior at Greenwich Academy.
