Cafeteria food doesn't have a great reputation, but education site Niche.com set out to find which public high schools excel at feeding their students in each state.

In Connecticut, four of the top 10 schools with the best food in 2016 are found in southwestern Connecticut. Expanding to the top 20, an extra four local schools (Greenwich High School, Masuk High School, Newtown High School and Ridgefield High School) are called out.

Nationally, four Connecticut schools ranked in the top 100. New Cannan landed at number 22, Weston High School at 86, Coginchaug Regional High School at 92 and Staples High School at 94.

The site gave parents and students at each school a survey on the quality of food served. Results from that survey were weighed heavily in determining the rankings, but Niche also took the price of food into account. The total expenses for food were divided by the total number of students.
