Five injured New Milford crash

NEW MILFORD -- Five people were taken to the hospital Sunday evening with minor injuries when one car rear-ended another on Route 7, a New Milford police spokesman said.

The crash occurred about 8:30 at the intersection of Route 7, also called Danbury Road, and Willow Springs, said Lt. Larry Ash.

Ash said a 2001 Toyota was stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a turn, when it was struck from behind.

Five people, all of whom were riding in the car that was struck, were treated at New Milford Hospital for minor injuries and released, Ash said.

The driver of the other car was cited for following too closely.

Route 7 was briefly closed as officials worked to clear the scene.
