INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Dario Franchitti is in very heady company in IndyCar.
Currently tied with Sebastien Bourdais and Paul Tracy for seventh on the all-time wins list, one more victory would move Franchitti up a notch — with the other drivers ahead of him named Foyt, Andretti and Unser.
And if that win comes Sunday in the Indianapolis 500, Franchitti would move into a very exclusive club. He'd join A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears as the only four-time winners of "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing."

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — NASCAR chairman Brian France said Saturday that the organization is not talking with IndyCar about making it easier for drivers who want to try racing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

Last December, IMS President Jeff Belskus said he would consider moving up the start time so Tony Stewart could follow through on an offer to run the double for Roger Penske.

Stewart, who in 2001 became the first driver to complete all 1,100 miles of racing on the same day, wound up turning down Penske's offer.

Stewart arrived about 25 minutes before the start of the Coca-Cola 600, jumped in his car and prepared for more racing.

[...] the questions crop up as more and more drivers with open-wheel backgrounds migrate to NASCAR.

France said NASCAR's focus will continue to be ongoing research and development to bring the tightest and competitive product to each track week after week.

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) — Lee Westwood shot a 67 Saturday to move into second place, a stroke behind Alejandro Canizares, after three rounds of the third round of the BMW PGA Championship.

Spain's Sergio Garcia, whose verbal sparring with Tiger Woods turned ugly this week when he said he would "serve fried chicken" if he had dinner with the American, posted a 68 for an eight-way share of sixth place — only four off the lead.
