Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport needs volunteer tutors 18 and older to teach English as a second language (ESL), reading and/or math skills, two hours twice a week from September to early June. The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Centers in Fairfield, Trumbull and Bridgeport needs volunteers are needed for clerical tasks in the office, with projects that require patient contact, at outreach events such as an annual walk/run and at community-based workshops, especially volunteers with Spanish language skills. YoungLives, a program of Young Life, in the Bridgeport and Norwalk area provides mentoring for teenage girls who are pregnant or parenting. Through caring relationships with mentors, group activities, and camp, teen moms find a safe haven to have fun as well as to consider issues of faith and values. They need mentors, childcare volunteers and help with crafts and special events.
