Democrat Susan Bysiewicz, the former Secretary of the State, will reportedly announce her intention to run for U.S. Senate against Joseph Lieberman when his seat comes up for re-election in 2012. Lieberman, who is currently an independent, could also face a Democratic challenge from U.S. Reps. Chris Murphy (5th district) and Joe Courtney (2nd). On the Republican side, Linda McMahon, who spent millions in a failed attempt at winning Dodd’s Senate seat in 2010, has also shown interest in running against Lieberman.
