NEW CANAAN — As part of their youth development programming, the YMCA is teaching children to take action and be socially responsible within the global community.

Participants in the YMCA’s Leaders in Training summer camp program are running lemonade stands throughout the summer to raise funds for Facing the Future Education Centre (FAFU) in Kibera, Kenya. The group raised close to $200 during their first stand of the summer.

Furthermore, in March, the fourth grade students at West Elementary School sent over four boxes of school supplies to the children at FAFU. More recently, they participated in a walk-a-thon that raised nearly $1,000 for the African school.
