Wire valued at $1K stolen from New Canaan site

A 48-year-old employee of New Canaan Forge, a welding and construction company, reported a larceny at 10:33 a.m. on Feb. 28.
According to police, a 200-foot section of welding wire, weighing approximately 200 pounds, was stolen from a truck at a construction site on Burtis Avenue. Police said the welding wire contains a copper core that is fairly valuable. The complainant last saw the wire on Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. and noticed it missing at 10 a.m. on Feb. 28. The wire's estimated value is $1,100. The matter is under investigation.
