Matthew G. Hill, 18, co-captain of the Wilton High School Wrestling team, and a 17-year-old male, are facing charges after a security guard said he saw them steal a flag from New Canaan High School.

Police said a New Canaan High School security guard saw two males breaking into the press box on top of the bleachers of the football field during a wrestling tournament on Feb. 11. The security guard notified the officer at the event who investigated and said he caught the two males outside of the press box with a black and red New Canaan Rams flag. Police said Hill and the other teen gained entrance to the press box through an unlocked window.

Both teens were charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. Police did not name the 17-year-old because he a minor, and he was charged as a youthful offender. He was released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 22.

Hill was also released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 23.
