The American Association of University Women will host a presentation on the history of Waveny House in conjunction with the New Canaan Historical Society. This event (open to the public) will be at 2 p.m. March 15 at the Historical Society, 13 Oenoke Ridge, with guest speaker Janet Lindstrom.

Since 1985, Lindstrom has served as executive director of the New Canaan Historical Society, supervising the preservation of several of New Canaan's historical buildings, museums that are part of the Society's property, educational programs, placement of plaques on homes in the Historic District as well as the publishing of New Canaan history. She is a charter member of AAUW and was named its Woman of the Year in 2004.

Waveny is a town landmark. It was built in 1912 by Lewis Lapham, co-founder of Texaco, as a summer retreat. The town acquired Waveny House and the surrounding 300 acres in 1967.
