The AmeriCares Free Clinic of Stamford is seeking volunteers fluent in both Spanish and English to serve as interpreters and screen patients for eligibility.

Volunteers are needed to work one four-hour shift a month on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

The AmeriCares mobile clinic will make stops on Stamford's east and west sides and in the Waterside neighborhood starting in January, providing primary care services to low-income Stamford and Darien residents without health insurance.

When it opens, the AmeriCares clinic will be the only free clinic in Stamford, where 20 percent of the population is uninsured. AmeriCares also operates free clinics in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury,
