The holiday season can be a challenging time, particularly for adults who are struggling to cope with loss. New Canaan's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County is sponsoring two six-week support groups on "Coping with Loss during the Holiday Season."
One group will meet Mondays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. from Nov. 21 through Dec. 26. The other group will meet Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. from Nov. 22 through Dec. 27. Both groups will be held at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park, 761 Main Avenue on the Wilton/Norwalk town line.

The support groups will be moderated by Karen S. Judd, a Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County interfaith minister and licensed clinical social worker.
"Grief is a simple word and it's completely inadequate to describe the depth of loss that people experience with the death of a loved one," Judd said. "In the support groups, we will discuss feelings of grief that well up during the holiday season and explore tasks for healing and strategies for coping with loss during this difficult time of year."
The support groups are open to the public and there is no fee for participation, but advanced registration is required.
