New Canaan's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County has provided home health care to adults and children in the heart of Fairfield County since 1912. The agency will celebrate its 100th year of service to the community at a gala fundraising event, Making a Difference, on Saturday evening, April 28, at New Canaan Country Club.

News anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams, is the honorary chairman of this centennial benefit. The veteran news man and New Canaan resident will give a special, videotaped welcome to guests at the event.

The agency will honor three couples at the centennial gala -- Harlan and Lois Anderson and Drs. Charlotte and David Brown of New Canaan, and Kathy and Curt Welling of Wilton -- in gratitude for their commitment to the community and to the work of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating 100 years of caring for the community," Agency President and CEO Sharon M. Bradley, said in a release. "Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County has grown and thrived for a century -- thanks in large measure to the leadership, support and wise counsel of these three couples."

The event will feature cocktails and a dinner, live and silent auctions, and musical entertainment by cabaret performers Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano.
