An employee at AC Auto Body & Mechanical Service of New Canaan reported to police at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 26 that he has not been able to receive payment of $1,844 from a regular customer.
The 53-year-old Ponus Ridge Road resident left the shop after his credit card was declined but said he would come back to pay his bill, police said. After allowing the man to leave without paying, the employee tried to contact him several times, but he would not return any calls, police said. After reporting the case to the police, the employee finally was able to reach the customer, who asked for some time to pay the bill, police said.
New Canaan police have tried to contact the customer, but he hasn't answered the phone. As of Monday morning, the bill still had not been paid.
