Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer two, eight-week bereavement support groups to help individuals cope with loss following the death of a spouse.

One support group will meet weekly on Monday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 13 and continuing through March 3.

The second support group will meet weekly on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 22 and continuing through March 12.

"In these support groups, we will explore the grieving process and the profound sense of personal loss that follows the death of a spouse," Amy Bauer, a grief and bereavement counselor with Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, said.

"With the death of a spouse, we lose the most central relationship in our adult lives," Bauer said. "We not only lose a loved one but an essential part of our identity as well. These bereavement support groups will help participants gain a deeper understanding of their feelings of grief and begin the process of healing."

The groups will meet at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at I-Park, 761 Main Ave., Norwalk.
