Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer two bereavement support groups this winter to help individuals cope with loss following the death of a spouse.

One support group, which will be for those who have suffered the recent loss of a spouse, will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 9 and continuing through Feb. 27.

The second group, for those in need of ongoing bereavement support for the loss of a spouse, will meet weekly on Monday afternoons from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 14 and continuing through March 4.

"In these support groups, we will explore the grieving process and the profound sense of personal loss that follows the death of a spouse," said the Rev. Karen Judd, an interfaith minister, Reiki Master and a grief and bereavement counselor with Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County. "With the death of a spouse, we lose the most central relationship in our adult lives. We not only lose a loved one but an aspect of our identity as well. These bereavement support groups will help participants gain a deeper understanding of their feelings of grief and begin the process of healing."

The groups will meet at the offices of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park, 761 Main Ave., Norwalk.

Attendance is free but registration is required by calling 203-834-6341, ext. 255.
