Artists Constance Olds and Torrance York of New Canaan are participating in the 40th Anniversary Exhibition of Art Show Bedford from Jan. 25 to 27 in the Fellowship Hall of St. Matthews Church in Bedford, N.Y.

The show opens with a gala reception on Friday, Jan. 25. Exhibition hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Special events include an Interactive Exhibition for all ages, "It Takes a Village" with Denise Minnerly of Rowayton on Saturday, Jan. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. and Appraisal Day on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Susan Grissom, co-curator of the exhibition with Leslie Henshaw, said, "We took the time-honored exhibition contemporary last year. It had a wonderful history of traditional art, but we wanted to give it new life. There are so many outstanding contemporary artists in the region -- in both Fairfield and Westchester counties -- and we wanted the show to reflect what is going on in today's art world."

Olds and York also are Silvermine Guild members. Area artists participating in Art Show Bedford include Tom Berntsen, a Silvermine Guild member whose sculptures will grace the front lawn of St. Matthews Church while his photography series "Dancing Leaves" will be on view inside.

Christopher Shore, a master printer at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking of Norwalk, will be showing several prints. Other Silvermine Guild members exhibiting include Claudia Mengel of Westport, Roxanne Faber Savage of Fairfield, Ashley Andrews of North Salem and Helen Cantrell of Old Lyme.

Forty-two painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers and mixed-media artists will be represented in the show. Anthony Kirk, artistic director of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, is juror for the awards that will be issued.

All proceeds from Art Show Bedford will benefit regional charities.
