New Canaan police arrested Bayron Castro, 48, of Locust Avenue, July 24 on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Police released few details about the alleged assault, in which Castro is charged with second-degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of a minor, according to a release from New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.

One of the parents reported the alleged crime on Monday, July 20, according to Krolikowski.

After obtaining a warrant, police arrested Castro at his home, according to Krolikowski.

Police did not provide additional information about when the assault allegedly occurred; or the age or gender of the victim.

Castro was held on $250,000 bond.
