The Performing Arts Conservatory of New Canaan will offer an all-day "Theatre Training Intensive Workshop" with four theater professionals, led by two-time Tony Award nominee Robin de Jesus.
The workshop, which will take place Sunday, Dec, 16, from noon to 6 p.m., offers an opportunity to focus on style, technique and performance quality.
De Jesus, nominated for "In the Heights" and "La Cage aux Folles," will teach the song component of the program. He will be accompanied by Liam Forde, a New York City-based vocal and audition coach.
Broadway dancer/choreographer Stephanie Klemons will focus on dance styles often found in musical theater, along with mock dance audition combinations, working step pick-up and technique. Actor Benjamin Simpson will concentrate on all aspects of creating a perfect monologue -- from the scene study and educational beginning work, to coaching each student on his/her monologue for future auditions.
Classes will be grouped according to ages, from fifth grade through 12th grade. Workshop signup is now open and enrollment is limited to 24 students.
