The Tiny Miracles Foundation held its seventh annual spring gala at the Wee Burn Beach Club in Nowalk Saturday, May 5, raising more than $200,000 for its support programs for preemie parents in our community.
The 2012 theme, "A Night of Sparkling Miracles," featured white draping, bold lighting and fuchsia and purple orchids. Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and a signature cocktail of St. Germain and champagne under a tent looking out onto Long Island Sound, while they perused silent auction items on display.
After a seated dinner, President Leelee Klein of Darien and Executive Director Gwen Noto of Fairfield spoke to the 270 guests about The Tiny Miracles Foundation's new initiatives. Klein and Noto then directed the room's attention to the TTMF video, detailing the journey of local preemie parents and the support programs that The Tiny Miracles Foundation brings to the local community for these parents.
The highlight of the evening was listening to "tiny miracles" Thomas and Nicholas Noto of Fairfield, Grace and Larsen Klein of Darien, Dante Esposito of Weston and Dayna Green of Bridgeport, who took a few minutes to tell their birth stories and thank their doctors and nurses for helping them recover from their very early beginnings. The children were all born under 2 pounds and each spent more than three months in the hospital.
Silent auction items were donated by local businesses such as Winivian Resort in Litchfield Hills, Mohegan Sun, Chelsea Piers CT, Alix Martinez Photography, New England School of Dance, Karen Green Baby Nurses, Frederic and Co., True North Kitchens, Rosemary Hallgarten, Weed and Duryea, Williams and Company, Jay Ackerman Photography and more. The live auction donations included African safaris, a trip to Martha's Vineyard, Ben Larrabee portrait sessions, Red Sox versus Yankees tickets, Genevieve Lau Jewelry and more.
Proceeds from the event will support the programs and services of The Tiny Miracles Foundation, a nonprofit organization that's dedicated to helping families with premature babies in the greater Fairfield County area. TTMF reaches more than 1,200 families in Fairfield County. Its services and programs are provided in the neonatal units of Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport hospitals, and it recently expanded to Danbury Hospital.
