Three New Canaan artists are award winners for "Brushwork," the exhibition at the Rowayon Arts Center in Norwalk that runs through Aug. 31.
Marianne Rothballer won best in show and received the Walter Brooks Memorial Award for watercolor; Virginia Jennewein was awarded first place in the watercolor category and Pilar Garra received honorable mention in the acrylic category.
"This exhibition includes a wide variety of styles while focusing on the craft of watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting," the judges stated. "The exhibition as a whole is enjoyable in the jewel-like gallery located on the Five Mile River. We awarded best in show to Marianne Rothballer, who displays a confident command of the technique of watercolor in her delightful and vivid rendering of the Old Schoolhouse."
Other New Canaan artists in the exhibition of acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings are Antoinette Vardamis and Suzanne Wright.
The gallery, at 145 Rowayton Ave., is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
