New Canaan High School senior Matt Parrino joined the Bank of New Canaan as an intern during May and June through the Senior Internship Program.

The program, which started a couple of years ago at New Canaan High School, has sent numerous seniors to various local businesses each spring so that they might gain experience in the work world before graduating.

Students are matched to businesses and jobs that best represent

their interests.

During his internship, Parrino primarily worked in the marketing department, where he learned about the bank's public relations and advertising, among other tasks.

Director of Marketing Diane Knetzger served as his site supervisor. He also worked closely with the bank's head of retail, Pat Laffin, and marketing associate and NCHS alumnus Kevin Randall.

"Interning at the Bank of New Canaan was a fantastic experience; the hands-on projects and day-to-day operations of the company certainly influenced what I want to study in business school," Parrino said.

"Matt was a terrific addition to our organization," Knetzger said. "He demonstrated a terrific attitude and work ethic, and handled a number of challenging projects very capably. By the last week, he was even making sales calls with our business development team."
