Police issued a Norwalk 17-year-old a juvenile summons for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana on June 24 after a motor vehicle stop for speeding, according to New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.
An officer traveling south on Main Street pulled over a black Honda Accord that was traveling 40 mph in a 25-mph zone, Ogrinc said.
While asking the 18-year-old driver for paperwork, the officer detected the odor of marijuana and found a plastic baggie with a small amount of marijuana and a few roach cigarettes inside, Ogrinc said.
A 17-year-old passenger acknowledged the drugs belonged to him and not the driver or the other two teenage passengers, Ogrinc said.
He was released on a promise to appear, and is to appear in state Superior Juvenile Court in Bridgeport on July 1, according to Ogrinc.
