Kevin Acuna-Escobar, 18, of 156 Joffre Ave., Stamford, was arrested Oct. 6 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs, failure to signal and possession of alcohol by a minor.
According to the incident report, a New Canaan police officer, who was stopped at a flashing red light at South Avenue and Cherry Street, observed a vehicle turn in front of him onto South Avenue without using a turn signal and accelerating through the turn at such a speed that the tires screeched and the vehicle jerked.
The driver was pulled over by the officer on South Avenue near Maple Street, police said, and an odor of alcohol was detected on his breath. Another officer who was dispatched to the scene observed a bottle of vodka on the rear seat, according to police.
He was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, police said.
He posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 18.
