NORWALK — Motorists can expect delays along the Merritt Parkway and other main thoroughfares in New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport this weekend thanks to multiple surveying operations being conducted by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

A surveying operation, which is being completed in advance of bridge and safety improvements along the parkway, will result in lane closures for northbound drivers along a 6.7-mile stretch on the Merritt Parkway between Exit 37 (Route 124, South Avenue, New Canaan) and Exit 41 (Route 33, Wilton Road, Westport) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The southbound side of the Merritt will also be marred by traffic as roadwork is completed between between Exit 40B and Exit 37 (3.6 miles) on Saturday. The right lane will be closed until 3 p.m.

Motorists will also be facing delays on Route 7 as the DOT surveys the connector this weekend to prepare for the completion of a ramp leading to the Merritt Parkway. The work will result in lane closures for a mile on Route 7 between Exit 2 (Route 123, New Canaan Ave) and Exit 3 (southbound, Route 15) in Norwalk from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will help guide motorists through the work zone.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.

CT DOT reminds motorists to “maintain a safe speed” when driving through work zones.
