UConn Report in conjunction with ForttSports LLC announces the second annual New York vs. New England All-Star Challenge, a regional football showcase taking place in Bridgeport, Connecticut at Central High School on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The event will feature area coaches headlined by Danny Panapada of Trinity Catholic, Jarrett Shine of Brunswick, Jamar Greene of Stamford as well as several from St. Luke’s—coach Noel Thomas, Offensive Coordinator Ernest Anderson Jr., Jeff Fuller and Storm grad and current UCONN wide receiver Noel Thomas Jr.
The inaugural event in 2015 was a tremendous success, with players who signed with or eventually committed to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, Temple, Rutgers, Indiana, UConn, Boston College and more participating.
The challenge had coverage from Rivals and SB Nation college sites as well as MSG Varsity and an assortment of local media.
This year's event will be slightly different, aiming to expand to three teams and also offer a pad-free opportunity for the big men, the guys in the trenches who make it all possible, to compete as well.
The goal of the event overall is for the high school football talent from the New York and New England regions, areas typically overlooked by national recruiting coverage, to showcase their abilities against the best of the best.
All interested players should have their head coaches nominate them with an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with hudl reel and information about collegiate interest.
This event has gained the praise and attention of college coaches across the region and beyond. There are many success stories to share from just one event with two teams last year, and the hope is to keep helping players from New York and New England get noticed for years to come.
