Eric Hegendoorn, 19, of Stamford was arrested on Tuesday, March 5, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana, and interfering with officers' investigation.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a three-car accident on Old Stamford and Talmadge Hill roads. Police said they found Hegendoorn inside one of the vehicles and could smell the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle found burnt marijuana cigarettes and a pipe, according to police.

Hegendoorn had told police he was driving the vehicle and was sitting in the driver's seat when police arrived, according to the report, but while being booked, he admitted he was not the driver. Officers later confirmed this and are looking for the actual driver.

He did not post bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 6.
