Snow has started to fall heavily on New Canaan, accompanied by blowing winds. As of 4 p.m., a few inches have fallen and blizzard conditions are expected any minute now, with heavy snow, wind and whiteout conditions.

The National Weather Service revised its forecast Sunday afternoon to say that between 14 and 22 inches of snow could fall in the greater Bridgeport area today and Monday.

The first flurries in Fairfield and New Haven counties began shortly after 10:30 a.m., and they had intensified by early afternoon. Gusty winds as high as 55 miles per hour and averaging around 20 to 35 miles per hour were forecast.
