Smith's expertise to aid New Canaan borrowers

Sheilah Smith has rejoined People's United Bank as vice president of residential lending, bringing with her more than 20 years of experience.

She is responsible for serving the residential lending needs of customers in lower Fairfield County, including New Canaan.

Smith, who began her career with People's in 1992, has held similar positions with NewAlliance Bank and First Niagara in the interim.

"We are pleased to have Sheilah back with us at People's United," said Christopher Dannen, vice president of residential lending. "Her impressive knowledge,

experience and relationships are the perfect addition to our team."

Smith earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University.

She has lived in Greenwich since 1984 and has served on the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting. Her past positions as economic planner for the city of New Haven and development coordinator for the city of Norwalk were the basis of her background in commercial real estate development.
