On Thursday, Sept. 30, the doors to the past will open for the children of the present to explore the the Little Red Schoolhouse on Carter Street. Children can explore the one-room school, make a craft and catch a glimpse of a child's life in New Canaan's past. The workshop, open to boys and girls ages 6 to 11, runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Call The New Canaan Historical Society at 203-966-1776 for reservations and more information. The schoolhouse will also host an open house Saturday, Sept. 25, from 1:30 to 3:30 for people of all ages, with exhibits including the wonderful WPA murals by Johnny Gruelle.
