The New Canaan Emergency Operations Center reports that the Police Department will be imposing a curfew at noon Monday, so residents are urged to stay indoors unless they have to evacuate for safety reasons.

In an update at 8:30 a.m. Monday from Michael Handler, emergency management director, winds were 25 to 35 mph and that forecasts show "the maximum impact in our area between noon today and noon tomorrow with gusts upwards of 75 mph."

Emergency management officials continue to ask residents to reserve 9-1-1 for "true police, fire and medical emergencies," said Handler, and to call the EOC at 203-594-4100 or use the EOC's Facebook page to communicate non-emergency concerns. Power outages need to be reported to CL&P at 800-286-2000. No outages have been reported in New Canaan.

Additionally, the EOC reports that more sandbags are available at the highway department. Enter the highway department from the Main Street entrance and stay to the right to head toward the garage. The sandbags are available in the last bay to the right.
