Another downtown New Canaan business, Sallea Antiques, 66 Elm St., will close its doors in August.

The store is currently holding a retirement sale to liquidate every item including tea caddies, fitted boxes, crystal and glass, desk accessories, fireplace accessories, Chinese and Japanese porcelain, brass, silver and silverplate, objects of vertu, games, timepieces, and antique furniture, according to a letter from owner Sally B. Kaltman.

"After over 40 years in business, it is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my retirement and the closing of Sallea Antiques," Kaltman wrote. "This sale is initiated only after careful consideration. It is our way of thanking you for your business and friendship, while at the same time accomplishing our goals."
