A safe was reported missing from a Knapp Lane home Jan. 20, New Canaan police said.
A 25-year-old male resident of the home called police at 9:10 p.m. after he noticed the safe was missing, according to the report. Police said the complainant said he last saw the safe on Christmas.
The safe contained $1,000 in cash and a number of personal documents, including passports and Social Security cards, according to the report.
Police said they don't know the value of the safe itself or whether or not the family had any work done in the house since Christmas.
Two days after filing the report, the complainant did a credit check and found "no red flags," police said.
The case is under investigation.
