The Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, presented its Community Service Award to Janice Luddy and Mary Beth Fessler , the co-founders of the Service League of Boys at New Canaan High School.

The SLOBs is a volunteer organization of parents and sons who join together in service and educational endeavors to foster community responsibility and strengthen their relationships.

Each year, the Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter presents the DAR's Community Service Award in recognition of outstanding contribution through civic, benevolent, or heroic acts by citizens from a variety of walks of life. The recipient must have outstanding voluntary service in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical, citizenship, environmental conservation or organized community endeavors.
