A 17-year-old male from Wilton caused a disturbance during SAT testing at New Canaan High School June 2 at 12:20 p.m.

Proctors for the exam thought the teen was using a cellphone during the exam, but it actually turned out to be an electronic cigarette, police said. When he was asked to put it away and stop smoking, he became belligerent and threw a pencil at the proctor, the report said.

After being dismissed, police charged the teen with second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear

in court June 6.
