NEW CANAAN — A 22-year-old Ridgefield man turned himself in to police on drunk-driving charges stemming from a car accident where he hit a tree in August.
On Aug. 20 around 4:40 a.m., police responded to Silvermine Road where a car had hit a tree. The driver, Aleksander Kielc of Prospect Street, was brought to Norwalk Hospital at the time of the accident.
Police obtained a search warrant for Kielc’s blood alcohol content, which showed his level was .16 at the time of the accident, twice the legal limit of .08. Based on that, police obtained a warrant for the Ridgefield man’s arrest, charging him with driving under the influence and failing to drive right.
On Oct. 2 around 1:30 p.m., Kielc turned himself in to police on the active warrant. He posted a $250 bond and was given a court date of Oct. 12.
