NEW CANAAN — Police arrested a 31-year-old man from Providence, R.I. after he threatened a witness in a pending case out of Rhode Island.

On April 18 around 8 a.m., police traveled to the Rhode Island Department of Corrections in Cranston, Rhode Island to take custody of Keith E. Duncan, of Reynolds Avenue. The Providence man was picked up on an extraditable warrant on charges of second-degree threatening, tampering with a witness and two counts of criminal violation of a standing criminal protective order, which is a class D felony. According to Lt. Jason Ferraro, the protective order was issued after an arrest in New Canaan and the victim was in New Canaan when Duncan contacted the victim and violated the order. These charges stemmed from Duncan attempting to get a witness to recant testimony for a pending criminal case in Rhode Island from October 2016.

Duncan was transported to New Canaan police headquarters where he was processed and held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. He was given a court date of April 19. As the matter is domestic, police said they will not be releasing further information about the case.
