The Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public meeting to get input from New Canaan residents on the update of the Plan of Conservation and Development.
The meeting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Wagner Room at New Canaan High School.
The session will begin with an overview of the strategies in the draft 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development. Residents and property owners will have an opportunity to provide comments on the draft and suggest priorities and strategies.
Following the public meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the comments received and review and refine the draft.
The current plan was adopted in 2003 and has guided a number of programs and initiatives over the past decade, including adopting new zoning and subdivision regulations, undertaking a study of the downtown area, addressing community facility needs and investigating housing strategies.
New Canaan residents are encouraged to come to the meeting to help ensure that the Plan of Conservation and Development reflects community goals. "This plan is an important document which will be used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond," said Laszlo Papp, chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
