Ingrid Gillespie, the director of the Lower Fairfield County Regional Action Council, recently spoke to New Canaan's Kiwanis Club about the agency's efforts to educate and prevent misuse of drugs and alcohol.

"Our goal is to work with as many organizations as we can, including youth services, behavioral health providers and advocate, and law enforcement, in order to strengthen local efforts to reduce substance misuse from youth through older adults, including those living with mental illness," Gillespie said.

Also joining Gillespie to explain the local efforts to help the community fight substance abuse were New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, LFCRAC Assistant Director Kathy Brown and New Canaan Cares' Meg Domino.

"We all benefit tremendously from the Lower Fairfield County Regional Action Council's dedication to helping prevent drug and alcohol abuse," Kiwanis member Kathleen Holland said. "Starting early is key."
